Time of Metaverse
ToM
ToM is a new decentralized time system designed to provide universal time to all web users.
The Metaverse, as we conceive it, is not merely a virtual space, nor a product of virtual reality. It encompasses the entirety of the internet, including its infrastructure and technology. It’s the third generation Internet, a new digital era that unifies all our online activities. The Metaverse is a universal, interconnected digital reality that transcends spatial and temporal barriers. It’s not a destination, but a new era of digital existence.

Manifesto for Time of Metaverse
In reference to John Perry Barlow’s Declaration of Independence of Cyberspace, we, users and actors of cyberspace, acknowledge the need to establish a dedicated time for our digital world, transcending geopolitical boundaries and temporal constraints.
In a spirit of collaboration and innovation, we support the creation of a time dedicated to our digital reality, the Time of Metaverse (ToM), guided by the following fundamental principles:
-1-
Decoupling from solar time: The Time of Metaverse should be independent of solar time, which is intrinsically linked to time zones and the Earth’s rotation. By freeing itself from the constraints
of solar time, the Time of Metaverse will foster a more inclusive and suitable digital environment for our connected community.
-2-
Representation of a virtual continent: The Time of Metaverse embodies a virtual continent, a unified digital space where individuals from all over the world can gather, cooperate, and exchange without being hindered by geographical or temporal barriers. This virtual continent will serve as a reference point for the Time of Metaverse, providing a common framework for online interactions and activities.
-3-
Independence from governments and geopolitical boundaries: Inspired by Barlow’s vision of a cyberspace independent from traditional institutions, we advocate for a ToM that transcends time zones and national boundaries, thus fostering a unified and sovereign digital environment.
-4-
Equality and accessibility: We advocate for a Time of Metaverse that facilitates communication and collaboration among individuals worldwide, regardless of their geographic location. This common
time will allow everyone to access online opportunities and resources on an equal footing.
-5-
Flexibility and adaptability: The Time of Metaverse should be
designed to adapt to the changing realities of our digital world. It should be flexible enough to evolve with emerging technologies and meet the diverse needs of our online community.
-6-
Reinforcement of digital identity: The Time of Metaverse should contribute to the flourishing of our digital identity, regardless of our physical identity and national affiliation. This common time will support our sense of belonging to a global community of connected individuals.
-7-
Encouraging cooperation and community: Barlow sees cyberspace as a place of cooperation and exchange among individuals. The Time of Metaverse could facilitate this cooperation by providing a common reference point for planning online events and interactions, thereby helping to strengthen ties between members of the cyberspace community.
We call on cyberspace actors, online platforms, businesses, and individuals to adopt and promote the Time of the Metaverse, to create a more unified, free, and equitable digital world for all its
users.
Together, we can build a cyberspace that transcends traditional barriers and reflects our collective aspiration for a harmonious and fulfilling online experience.

The Origine
On January 16, 2023, at 18:24, a bold idea emerged: to adapt our perception of time to the radical evolution of our digital living space – the Metaverse. An already existing world, characterized by sharing, collaboration, transparency, and innovation. A universe that empowers individuals, promoting their freedom, autonomy, and independence.
However, despite its decentralized and borderless nature, one aspect of the physical world still persists in the Metaverse – the UTC time standardization system, based on territorial time zones that are no longer relevant for global web usage.
So, we envisioned a system that provides a universal time for all internet users, a time adapted to the Metaverse. We envisioned a time that respects the essence of the Metaverse, facilitating cooperation and interaction in a borderless digital world.
This is how Time of Metaverse (ToM) was born. A dedicated, flexible, and adaptive time that reflects the flourishing of our digital identity within a virtual continent. A time that transcends solar time and geopolitical borders, promoting a unified and sovereign digital environment.
Time of Metaverse (ToM) is not just an idea. It’s a response to a changing reality. It’s an invitation to reimagine how we perceive and live time in the Metaverse.
